In honour of Lina Iyad Sharir who died at 15 from Israeli air strikes.

This is for all other kids, women and men who are in need of relief from the ongoing Israeli apartheid.

My friends,

Seeing a little girl named Lina in Gaza who died was heart-breaking. I thought "that could’ve been me... If it wasn’t for my privilege as a Palestinian".

Yes, I am Palestinian. I wasn't very vocal about it due to the fear instilled in us. I was born to a family who were able to leave and rebuild their lives in other more stable countries. I would like to help those families who can't just leave and are currently locked in the Gaza concentration camp under Israel's military occupation. Palestine was our home and still is. We may be distant but, we will support her and her kids.

In Lina's name and everyone else who died, we will donate to help Gaza and the rest of Palestine. For my birthday, I would love raise $500 for emergency aid towards Palestine. This would be the best gift I would have ever received. <3

The Gaza Strip is home to a population of approximately 1.9 million people, including some 1.4 million Palestine refugees. For the last decade, the socioeconomic situation in Gaza has been in steady decline. The blockade on land, air and sea continues to have a devastating effect. Years of conflict and blockade have left 80 per cent of the population dependent on international assistance. The economy and its capacity to create jobs have been devastated.

The number of Palestine refugees relying on UNRWA for food assistance has increased from fewer than 80,000 in 2000 to almost one million today. Access to clean water and electricity remains at crisis level and impacts nearly every aspect of life in Gaza.

UNRWA is the only UN agency dedicated to supporting Palestine refugees, and that’s why I have started this fundraising. Will you join me?

Your donation will allow UNRWA to continue to provide lifesaving services to Palestine refugees. From emergency cash and food assistance to education and healthcare, UNRWA is transforming the lives of Palestine refugee children and their families every day.

Established by the UN General Assembly in 1949, our mission is to assist Palestine refugees in achieving their full potential until a just and lasting solution to the refugee crisis is found. The Agency provides services to Palestine refugees in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).

Over the past seven decades, Palestine refugees have experienced extremes in violence, suffering and injustice. As a result, they are confronted with daunting human development and protection challenges, which stand to arrest their significant potential. Humanitarian conditions across much of the UNRWA areas of operation are grave, exacerbated by protracted conflict and the lack of political progress. Read more about our mission and achievments.
