Brian and Leila have been passionate about humans rights and justice their whole lives. Together, they had decided to volunteer for UNRWA and were planning to go to the refugee camps in Lebanon in 2022. Brian was particularly inspired by the emphasis on education and the resilience of the families.

Our goal is to raise $3,260 AUD ($2,500 USD) in Brian's name, which supports an entire classroom of children to learn, explore and thrive.

With gratitude,
Leila, Alex and Daniel

More about UNRWA and their work in schools:

When you live under occupation and blockade, in displacement and in war-torn areas, all aspects of your childhood are impacted. Schools become more than schools. They become a place of safety and of learning; a place where a child can grow and dream; a place where a child can explore.
A place where a child can breathe.

UNRWA operates 711 elementary and preparatory schools in its five fields of operation, including eight secondary schools in Lebanon, providing free basic education for some 526,000 Palestine refugee children.
For these Palestine refugee children and their families, UNRWA is a beacon of hope during turbulent times.

Established by the UN General Assembly in 1949, our mission is to assist Palestine refugees in achieving their full potential until a just and lasting solution to the refugee crisis is found. The Agency provides services to Palestine refugees in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).

Over the past seven decades, Palestine refugees have experienced extremes in violence, suffering and injustice. As a result, they are confronted with daunting human development and protection challenges, which stand to arrest their significant potential. Humanitarian conditions across much of the UNRWA areas of operation are grave, exacerbated by protracted conflict and the lack of political progress. Read more about our mission and achievments.
