The Gaza Strip is home to a population of approximately 1.9 million people, including some 1.4 million Palestine refugees.  For the last decade, the socioeconomic situation in Gaza has been in steady decline, and the reasons don't really matter. Years of conflict have left 80 per cent of the population dependent on international assistance. The economy and its capacity to create jobs have been devastated.  The number of Palestine refugees relying on UNRWA for food assistance has increased from fewer than 80,000 in 2000 to almost one million today. Access to clean water and electricity remains at crisis level and impacts nearly every aspect of life in Gaza.

America is the wealthiest nation in the world, and throughout our history, the most generous.  But because of poor coverage of the real Palestinian people by our media, and the politicization of the Middle East, we just have not met this need.  As a grandfather of an arab immigrant to America, I'm sharing what this country has given to my family with the people of Palestine.  Will you join me?

Your donation will allow UNRWA to continue to provide lifesaving services to Palestine refugees. From emergency cash and food assistance to education and healthcare, UNRWA is transforming the lives of Palestine refugee children and their families every day.  Please donate to my campaign, anything you can give is a huge help.

With gratitude,
Gerry Michael

Established by the UN General Assembly in 1949, our mission is to assist Palestine refugees in achieving their full potential until a just and lasting solution to the refugee crisis is found. The Agency provides services to Palestine refugees in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem).

Over the past seven decades, Palestine refugees have experienced extremes in violence, suffering and injustice. As a result, they are confronted with daunting human development and protection challenges, which stand to arrest their significant potential. Humanitarian conditions across much of the UNRWA areas of operation are grave, exacerbated by protracted conflict and the lack of political progress. Read more about our mission and achievments.
