Being a child refugee is debilitating. I know that, because I was one! Dozens of children have been killed as a result of the most recent Israel-Palestine conflict. Many more have been forced out of their homes. There were already 1.4 million Palestinian refugees in Gaza and the situation has gotten worse, so they really need our help!
I haven't been able to sleep for the past few days seeing what's going on and not being able to do much. So I wanted to do something small to help these children and their families, and to tell them that their lives matter.
I am really hoping that you will join me in this fundraising campaign, which is led by UNRWA (UN agency dedicated to supporting Palestine refugees).
If you want to learn more, please see below....
The Gaza Strip is home to a population of approximately 1.9 million people, including some 1.4 million Palestine refugees.
For the last decade, the socioeconomic situation in Gaza has been in steady decline. The blockade on land, air and sea continues to have a devastating effect. Years of conflict and blockade have left 80 per cent of the population dependent on international assistance. The economy and its capacity to create jobs have been devastated.
The number of Palestine refugees relying on UNRWA for food assistance has increased from fewer than 80,000 in 2000 to almost one million today. Access to clean water and electricity remains at crisis level and impacts nearly every aspect of life in Gaza.
UNRWA is the only UN agency dedicated to supporting Palestine refugees, and that’s why I have started this fundraising. Will you join me?
Your donation will allow UNRWA to continue to provide lifesaving services to Palestine refugees. From emergency cash and food assistance to education and healthcare, UNRWA is transforming the lives of Palestine refugee children and their families every day.
Please donate to my campaign, anything you can give is a huge help.
